FLOAT
Float is about childhood memories, the sensation of floating before falling asleep, of having dreams and hopes. It’s about my young daughter questioning death and being upset that all the fun will end one day. It’s about not forgetting your dreams or your childhood, and continuing to find enjoyment.
These memories and feelings are fundamentally intangible. They can never be fully shown or explained to anyone other than oneself – perhaps not even then. In making Float, words are abstracted into cloud-like forms which are deliberately amorphous and ambiguous. These shapes invite various associations, such as a transient and intangible nature; abstract, vague, changing forms; and the broad symbolism of dreams, the heavens, and so on.
The pieces are made by press-forming brass in two halves and joining them to create a hollow form. Each one is then hand painted by Inca, making every piece unique.

Some pieces of the Float series are currently with Objects Beautiful Gallery.
